AWIS-San Diego Scholarship Program 2025-2026
The AWIS-San Diego Scholarship Program encourages and rewards outstanding students pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields at San Diego colleges and universities.
The Scholarship Program, now in its 26th year, annually supports community college, undergraduate, and graduate students in San Diego County pursuing degrees in STEM fields where women are underrepresented. Scholarship funds help support their research projects and/or assist with additional educational expenses. The fields of study of previous AWIS-SD Scholars include biology, chemistry, physics, computer science, engineering, mathematics, and experimental psychology.
This year $7500 will be awarded to students as well as one year membership to AWIS-SD. It will be assigned as follows: One AWIS-SD scholar in Community College: $1000, One AWIS-SD scholar in a 4 Year University: $1000, One AWIS-SD scholar in their Masters: $1000, and for PhD Applicants: Year 1-3 of their program: $2250 ($1125 per winner), Year 4+ of their program: $2250 ($1125 per winner).
Each AWIS-SD scholar (both recipient and runner up) will be given a one year AWIS membership to either sign up as a new member or renew their current membership for the upcoming year.
Eligibility
Students actively engaged in a STEM related degree program in the 2025-2026 academic year may apply. Applicants who are not currently enrolled in a program and or whose degree does not apply as a STEM field are not currently eligible to apply. If you have any questions or concerns for your eligibility prior to applying please reach out to the scholarship committee.
Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 from their current institution, be enrolled in an accredited college or university in San Diego County, and demonstrate a commitment to advancing the equitable participation of women in STEM.
Deadline
All the application materials must be submitted by Friday March 27th, 2026.

Awards will be presented at an AWIS-SD event in Spring 2026.
