The Scholarship Program strives to encourage and reward outstanding women pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields at San Diego colleges and universities.
The Scholarship Program, now in its 18th year, annually supports community college, undergraduate, and graduate student women in San Diego County who are pursuing degrees in STEM fields where women are underrepresented. Scholarship funds help support their research projects and/or assist with additional educational expenses. The fields of study of previous AWIS-SD Scholars include Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, and Experimental Psychology. Each AWIS-SD Scholar receives a $1000 Scholarship Award and 1 year complimentary AWIS-SD Chapter-only membership.

Eligibility: Female students actively engaged in a degree program in the 2016-2017 academic year may apply. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and must be enrolled (or accepted by) with an institute of higher learning (College and above) in San Diego County.
Deadline: All the application materials must be submitted by Tuesday, February 28th, 2017.
Applicants will receive an e-mail confirming submission of a completed application approximately 2-3 weeks following the application deadline. Scholarship recipients will be notified by April 28th, 2017.
2017 Scholarship recipients will be honored at the WIST Conference on May 20th, 2017 at UC San Diego Faculty Club.
